Alterations

Fit is everything when it comes to defining your final bridal look, which is why we offer in-house alterations right here at Definition Bridal. This is a one-on-one appointment with our seamstress to have your dress altered to fit correctly for your special day.

When should I start my alterations?
Standard alterations should begin about 8 weeks before your wedding date. During this time, your seamstress will transform your wedding dress into the best fitting garment you have ever owned.

What do I need to bring to my alterations appointment?
For your first fitting, you will need to bring your dress, undergarments, accessories, and any other bridal essentials. You will need to bring your shoes to your second and third appointments as they focus on the length of your dress and the bustle. We also recommend a supportive family member or friend to cheer you on during your alterations appointment.

Are alterations included in the price of my wedding dress?
Wedding dress alterations are not included in the price of the wedding dress. While we do have in house alterations and coordinate all appointments, pricing is set per the seamstress. During your bridal appointment your bridal stylist will be able to share a price range of alterations for your specific wedding dress.

How many alterations appointments will I need?
Brides typically need at least  three fittings before the dress is ready. And remember, for a less stressful wedding preparation, shop early for your wedding dress, up to a year in advance!

What if my weight changes?
This is totally normal and happens often! Some brides lose weight, gain weight, gain muscle mass, or even become pregnant. Wedding seamstresses are well equipped for all changes. If you do plan on having any weight changes or if pregnancy should happen, we recommend that you share these possible changes with your stylist. They will book your alterations appointments as close to your wedding day as possible so you will too have the best fitting wedding dress.
